Too many people have not been trained to develop a mindset. Rather than focus on the things in life that don’t help them, serve them, and give them a better life, they focus on their need to be and feel right.
When you develop mental toughness, you are also going to have big challenges.
Understand Mental Toughness
I don’t want to say a certain moment, but there was a transition, because as a kid, I understood the mindset. I would hear other people talk about mindset. But then you get sucked into social society where they talk about you can’t do this, you can’t do that. And it’s ironic that everything that I’ve ever thought about doing or didn’t think about doing, I’ve done.
I think people want to give it to Henry Ford, but I think it’s Socrates. The quote is, “If you think you can and you think you can’t, you’re right.” I understood that at an early age about how your mind works and function. I just didn’t know how to use it.
When you’re in an environment with people who don’t know how to use it, and you listen to them, because you want to fit in or say, “Hey, this is my friend.” I think that moment is when I understood it as a kid, and then I just later on in my life, like my twenties,I would say is when I started “applying it.” I should have been listening to that inner voice, instead of the voices who are telling me, “Hey, you can’t do this,” or, “Don’t do this.”
When you get older and you start growing, you understand and you listen to that voice. That’s the voice that you want to follow anyway. It’s not the negativity that people are trying to project on you.
